The National Immunisation Program provides routine vaccinations free to eligible people. Infants, children, adolescents and adults who have, or are eligible to have a Medicare card can receive the free vaccines.
Our highly trained, empathetic staff will tailor the immunisation appointment to reduce fear and anxiety. Needle phobia in teens and adults can be supported by using a variety of distraction techniques such as "Shot Blocker" pain reduction device and lying down during the appointment.
Childhood immunisations are usually accompanied by music, stickers and balloons. We will try our best to make the appointment as positive experience as possible.

GP Management Plans
A GP Management Plan enables a GP to plan and coordinate the health care of patients with chronic or terminal medical condition. They include patients with these conditions who require multidisciplinary, team-based care from a GP and at least two other health or care providers.
A chronic medical condition is one that has been (or is likely to be) present for six months or longer, for example, asthma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, musculoskeletal conditions and stroke. There is no list of eligible conditions; however, the Chronic Disease Management items are designed for patients who require a structured approach, including those requiring ongoing care from a multidisciplinary team.
Eligibility for a GP Management Plan is accessed by a GP taking into account a patient’s medical condition and care needs, as well as a strict set of guidelines set out by the Department of Health.
A GP Management Plan gives patients access to free or subsidised allied health services.

Health Assessments are one of the most effective ways for us to provide health promotion and prevention services in General Practice.

Available assessments include:
- Health assessment for people aged 75 years and older
- Health assessment for people aged 45-49 years who are at risk of developing chronic disease
- Type 2 diabetes risk evaluation for people aged 40-49 years

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, anxious recently you may benefit from a mental health care plan from your GP.
Mental Health care plans are created by the GP following discussion and assessment for eligibility. Your doctor will use some simple assessment tools and questions to determine the best support for you.
A mental health care plan is a plan to treat your mental health issues. It sets the outcomes you and your doctor hope to achieve, and lays out the steps to get there.
It might include appointments with a range of suitable professionals, like psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers or occupational therapists.
A mental health care plan also makes your treatment more affordable, by allowing you to claim your appointments on Medicare.
You’ll be able to claim a Medicare rebate on up to 10 individual sessions or group appointments in a calendar year. After the first 6 sessions, you’ll need to check in with your doctor to access the remaining sessions, if you need them.

collecting your own vaginal sample (self-collection)
having your healthcare provider collect your sample.
Both options are equally accurate and safe ways to find HPV.
If you’re unsure what to expect or are worried, you can talk about the process and ask questions first.
You can take a family member or friend with you, ask for a female chaperone in your appointment to help you feel more comfortable.

For patients whose ingrown toenail issues are long-term and recurring, ingrown toenail surgery is likely to be the best option. When conservative and non-invasive treatments are unsuccessful, surgery removing the nail edge (which doesn’t grow back) can be a better permanent solution to avoid continual discomfort and pain.
Ingrown toenail surgery is indicated for:
Chronic ingrown toenail
Recurring ingrown toenail despite frequent conservative care
Ingrown toenails that are negatively impacting your lifestyle, causing significant pain and footwear use problems
The nail must be assessed by the GP prior to planning a procedure, it is common for an infected nail to require treatment by antibiotics prior to removal.

My Family GP Victoria Point offer iron infusions for patients who are experiencing low levels of iron or iron deficiency anaemia.
What is an Iron Infusion?
Iron is used to make haemoglobin, which is an important part of red blood cells as they help carry oxygen to our vital organs and tissues. When the amount of iron in the body gets too low, the haemoglobin levels fall below normal. This is known as ‘iron deficiency anaemia’.
If iron levels are low, it can negatively impact your mental function, muscle strength and energy levels. You may feel more tired than usual, experience shortness of breath and even have difficulty performing basic, everyday activities.
An iron infusion can be given to restore these low levels of iron in your body. The procedure is given via intravenous infusion where an iron containing product is infused directly into your vein and into your blood circulation. This iron product circulates in your blood and is delivered to organs throughout your body that require iron for normal functioning.
Iron can be given as a tablet or liquid that you can swallow, and this is usually recommended first to treat IDA.
However, your doctor may recommend an IV iron infusion if your iron level is low, or you have been diagnosed with iron deficiencyanaemia and you:
can’t take iron tablets or liquids
are not responding to or absorbing iron tablets or liquids
need to quickly replenish your iron levels because of surgery, are late in pregnancy or need to avoid a blood transfusion
have chronic kidney disease or chronic heart failure
cannot have a blood transfusion, such as for religious reasons
Depending on your iron levels you may need more than one infusion. Usually, iron infusions are given at least one week apart.
How is an Iron Infusion Given?
Intravenous Infusion (IV) is a method of putting fluids into the body’s bloodstream through a vein. When you are given an infusion, a needle is placed into a vein (usually in the back of your hand or arm) and attached to a drip which delivers the iron containing medicine mixed with saline (a sterile saltwater solution). This fluid is slowly dripped (infused) into the vein and mixes with the blood in your body.
Please note that iron infusions will attract a private fee. This will be discussed prior to your procedure.
